Experimental Architecture.
Headquartered at the AA’s Hooke Park campus, students of the Design + Make programme explore architectural design at the point of physical production. Supported by a diverse team of experts, the programme develops design methodologies at the intersection of craft knowledge, innovative technologies and natural materials. Through the realisation of full-scale projects, our work is driven by the principle of design-through-making. Integrating emerging tools such as 3D scanning, generative modelling and robotic fabrication creates opportunities for replicating the feedback between material properties and designed form that had previously connected designer, maker, and artefact.
