Frederik Petersen is an architect, photographer, and educator. He trained at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts School of Architecture and was awarded his doctorate at Aarhus School of Architecture. In his PhD dissertation Realising Representation he examines the role of drawing and photography in the conception of architecture. His research relies on on speculative and exploratory practices that encompass a wide range of technologies, practices, and materials. Recently his work work has materialized in works of concrete and metal. His artistic practice explores representational concepts and their impact on the construction of reality while focussing on photographic imagery that balance between objective documentation and fabrication of reality. His work is exhibited in architecture, art, and design contexts. He has taught at the Bartlett, Oxford Brookes, Aarhus School of Architecture and Bergen Architecture School, and has been a Resident Researcher at the Centre for Architectural Structures and Technologies at University of Manitoba.
