AA Design + Make Masters study at the Architectural Association Hooke Park

South Lodge

The South Lodge consists of two bedrooms and a shared kitchen-dining-living space. This student designed-and-built timber-framed building uses recycled local materials, salvaged, and up-cycled objects. It has been developed through a series of full-scale prototype mock-ups to tailor the design to the site and anticipated occupation. Constructed started in 2013 and the project was completed in 2014.

Student design-make team: Carlos Chen, Stephanie Cramer, Sarina da Costa Gomez, Joseph Dacoronias-Marina, Elizabeth Lawrence.

The project received an Honorable Mention at the International Architecture Awards 2015.

The cladding consists of western red cedar from Hooke Park that has been sawn through-and-through and then cut into planks.
