Campus Scanning

Beginning in 2016, Design + Make initiated a project to apply 3D scanning techniques initially employed at the single building scale in the Boiler House and Wood Chip Barn projects to the scale of the campus and surrounding woodland. Carefully aligning numerous scans captured over the course of three years, a composite model begins to depict impossible timelines – with nonsimultaneous events displayed in parallel.

As built drawings emerge from the model for each project. And comparing exact scan data to design drawing we have been able to precisely document and evaluate things such as assembly accuracy, and the change of projects over time. These model will continue to develop.
